Yesterday we got to see the teaser of much awaited upcoming film ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’ and a lot went wrong leaving fans disappointed. So much so that they couldn’t help but recall the OG actor-director duo Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan.
BB3 teaser was not received well by the viewers with many calling it out for inferior quality VFX, unnecessarily grand sets, colourful frames to add in vibrancy and the over dramatisation of characters, specially Vidya Balan’s Manjulika.
Above all, people are getting nostalgic about the first ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’ helmed by Priyadarshan that featured Akshay Kumar as Aditya Srivastava in the lead. The way Kumar embodied the character is still fresh in the audience’s mind and they do not seem to overcome it anytime soon.
Fans are also not happy about the franchise’s theme shift. The original version though touted to be a horror comedy and appeared so till the end when the makers decided to give a logical explanation for all that happened. Whereas the sequels, though have been claimed to be standalone with no links to the previous parts, have now shifted to purely paranormal and that is has become a hard pill to swallow for the franchise lovers.
People were reminiscent of Akshay Kumar even when ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’ came out and were sceptical about Kartik Aaryan stepping in but we all know how BB2 defied all the negativity and not only emerged as a box office blockbuster but did is at a time when the industry was reeling under stress post pandemic.
While BB3 has already been made and any change to the plot line is now impossible, we can only hope further promotions are done in a better way and can create the excitement the film needs to become a superhit and carry the franchise’s legacy.
