After Theatrical Competition, Can Vedaa Survive The OTT Clash

The reception of movies coming on OTT platforms may be the two sides of the same coin. Nevertheless, miracles can happen albeit its failure at the box office. Can ‘Vedaa’ be able to surpass such a situation?

‘Vedaa’ is an Indian Hindi-language action-drama film directed by Nikkhil Advani and produced by Zee Studios, Emmay Entertainment, and JA Entertainment. The film features actors John Abraham and Sharvari, where the latter plays the titular role alongside actors Abhishek Banerjee, and Ashish Vidyarthi respectively.

Following the theatrical release on the 78th Independence Day, the movie received average to mixed reviews and couldn’t perform well at the box office, thereby turning into a flop. As per new reports, the movie is ready for streaming on the ZEE 5 platform on the 12th of this month. What are its challenges?

The tight competition with high grossers like ‘Stree 2’ during the theatrical release was its one reason for failure and the same issue comes up with its digital release, where the Amar Kaushik movie will be released tomorrow and will stream for free on the Amazon Prime video. This will be the biggest challenge.

Regarding the positive side of the movie, the performances of actor Sharvari were convincing throughout the movie and this gives hope to the audience for her upcoming big release named ‘Alpha’, along with actor Alia Bhatt. Again, the conception by Nikkhil Advani is giving a possibility in waiting for his upcoming series, named ‘The Freedom At Midnight’ which will be streamed on the Sony LIV platform.

Furthermore, the release of Akshay Kumar movies like ‘Sarfira’ and ‘Khel Khel Main’ is going to be streaming on the 11th of this month, and the latter is already released today on Netflix.

Subsequently, both films are regarded as a disaster in terms of the box office and the chances for a competition with ‘Vedaa’ are foreseen albeit the John Abraham movie might be preferable. Also, ‘Sarfira’ will be streaming on the 12th of this month on the Disney+Hotstar platform.
