Border 2 Teaser Roars With Patriotism, Stumbles on VFX

The highly awaited teaser for Border 2 is out now, and it seems to be riding high on a wave of patriotism. If you loved the OG Border (1997) and its leading man, Sunny Deol, who portrays Lt Colonel Fateh Singh Kaler this time, then you will surely love the new teaser as well.

The latest clip gives us a first look at the cast. Apart from Sunny Deol’s roaring presence, we see glimpses of other cast members such as Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, Ahan Shetty, Sonam Bajwa, and Mona Singh.

Launched on Vijay Diwas, the Border 2 teaser immediately establishes a tone of intense valour, sacrifice, and deep patriotism. Instead of simply relying on nostalgia, the film is presented as a major, emotionally compelling war drama tailored for today’s viewers, while preserving the core spirit of J.P. Dutta’s classic 1997 film, Border.

The teaser tries hard to convey a sense of grandeur for the sequel. It is dominated by massive spectacle, including sweeping desert landscapes, roaring tanks, aerial warfare, and explosive action. But this action-packed tone is balanced by a strong emotional core, conveyed through subtle moments of quiet reflection among the soldiers, intense, charged glances, and the palpable, unspoken burden of duty and sacrifice.

Despite all the positives, the one thing that remains the teaser’s biggest flaw is its visuals. Poor VFX is easily noticeable and repeatedly draws attention. Understandably, better visuals require a larger budget.

According to some online reports, Border 2 has been made on a massive INR 150 crore budget. Given the recent box office performance of Hindi films (apart from exceptions like Dhurandhar), it appears that T-Series and J.P. Dutta have played it slightly safe with Border 2 in terms of VFX.

Yet, INR 150 crore is not a small amount, nonetheless. Considering the love for the original 1997 film and its release window, January 23, 2026, just days before Republic Day, Border 2 is expected to perform strongly at the box office. Gadar 2 worked wonders for Sunny Deol, and it seems Border 2 may do the same for the actor. Stay tuned for more updates.
