Varun Dhawan has been a great actor for the Indian film industry and some of his performances have been commendable over the years despite making mediocre films. His comedic style was well applauded by the audiences initially but went boring after repetitive scripts. However, Bollywood’s Bhediya reminded everyone timely that he can act very well with strong performances in Badlapur, October, and Bhediya.
Having several mainstream films under his name, Varun aims to hit it big with his upcoming film Baby John under the guidance of veteran filmmaker Atlee. Now imagine the raw brute screen presence of Varun Dhawan in a massive Pan-Indian film by Atlee. We all know what Atlee and his team can do with Bollywood stars as seen in Jawan and with Varun Dhawan leading the pack, it is an all-different level of authenticity and mass.
On the other hand, he also stars with Samantha Ruth in Citadel’s official Hindi adaptation of Citadel: Honey Bunny on Prime Video. The series showcases Varun in a serious and hard-hitting avatar which promises to be another stellar project for the 37-year-old. After some of his mediocre films like Jug Jug Jeeyo and Bawaal, this might be the breakthrough for Dhawan making him a bigger superstar.
Despite having good releases under his name, Varun still lacks that one career-defining film, and Baby John might be the one for him to shine. Being an official remake of Thalapathy Vijay’s Theri, the film’s plot is somewhat similar but Atlee has assured that both the films have their own identities and Baby John will have something different.
As it will be a busy year ahead for Varun Dhawan, it remains to be seen how his upcoming projects impact his overall persona and status in the industry. Dhawan’s premiere series Citadel: Honey Bunny releases on 7th November only on Prime Video whereas his much-awaited action-thriller Baby John aims for a Christmas release this year.
