Sequels (also read: prequels) of widely appreciated films are always a fan-anticipated event. The excitement that builds along as hoards of fans wait with bated breath for the release of a film they’ve been waiting on for months is something that pays off in terms of box-office collections as well as viewing numbers.
Which is to say, in the absence of this excitement, what are fans to make of the situation? Take for example the case of ‘Metro… In Dino’, the spiritual sequel to Anurag Basu’s much loved ‘Life in a… Metro’. While the initial announcement of the project a couple months ago was accompanied with widespread excitement, the vigor seems to have died down.
With the theatrical release slated for November 29, the question that arises is: why aren’t promotions in full swing for this much-awaited movie? where is the album that fans have been waiting for, for so long? and what about the teaser?
In other words, the one big question that all of the aforementioned ones lead to is this: is the film moving towards yet another date change? Because if not, the scope of the film seems to be limited only to fans of the original ‘Life in a… Metro’.
Not only would this be an astonishing waste of a potentially good script, but also a largely loved star-studded cast, which includes the likes of Aditya Roy Kapur, Pankaj Tripathi, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Konkona Sen Sharma, Anupam Kher, Neena Gupta, Ali Fazal, and more.
