Let’s talk about Singham Again. Bollywood has been down on its luck lately though between RRR and KGF and the other regional industries smashing box office records. And these weren’t even Bollywood movies, but they made such a worldwide influence. Singham again and maybe bollywood will finally get back on top where it belongs. After all, it’s part of a beloved franchise that’s already a proven hit. Is this the breakout that Bollywood has been waiting for?
Singham (2011) was that movie that changed Ajay Devgn’s career and Bollywood’s action genre. With its intense storyline, powerful characters, and larger-than-life dialogues, it struck a chord with audiences. Directed by Rohit Shetty, the film became an instant hit, grossing over ₹1.41 billion worldwide. Its sequel, Singham Returns (2014), released during Independence Day, continued the success streak with ₹219 crore in box office collections. These films cemented Shetty’s Cop Universe as a Bollywood staple, creating anticipation for Singham Again.
Now, look at the competition. KGF and RRR didn’t just break records, they became cultural milestones. KGF has put kannada cinema in the map with its thrilling storyline and mass appeal, earning ₹334 crore worldwide. RRR changed the game and went on to become an international sensation with ₹1,300 crore in collections and an Oscar for Best Original Song. These movies changed indian cinema for the better because they proved that a good story and grandeur can appeal to anyone no matter what language the movie is in.
Where does Singham Again fit? Rohit Shetty isn’t holding back—Ajay Devgn, Ranveer Singh, Akshay Kumar, Deepika Padukone, Tiger Shroff, and even Salman Khan as a special guest are all part of this Diwali release. The Singham series has huge fanbase and with this star cast it only makes it heavier. This movie is already popular all over the nation and Shetty’s direction of fast paced action could potentially make this Bollywood’s next blockbuster hit, something that the industry is in desperate need of- a box office winner.
But in the end Singham Again is due to come out when Bollywood really needs a hit. If it strikes the correct chords it will be the comeback that Bollywood has been longing for, and will finally compete with the regional films (for once). Who knows maybe it will be as good as RRR or KGF but Bajirao Singham is at the helm so expectations are certainly there.
