Devara and GOAT Showered Money in September?

Though the Indian Film industry didn’t have any earth-shattering financial success in September, it did outperform the expectations and minted a lot given the quality of the films.

Devara and Greatest of All Time did wonders at the Box office despite being criticized for its flaws. The third highest-grossing month of the year, September, brought in ₹1,066 crore for the Indian box office.

Nonetheless, the total box office for January through September releases was around ₹7,949 crore, which is 9.5% less than the same time in 2023.

Speaking of September 2024, no other film reached the ₹100-crore milestone, with Jr NTR’s Devara and Thalapathy Vijay’s The Greatest Of All Time controlling the box office with a combined share of around 60%. Additionally, only the Malayalam movie A.R.M. made over ₹50 crore.

Devara was the most popular movie of September, earning ₹337 crore in total revenue across all languages. While the phase of re-releases is on the rise, Tumbbad made a staggering amount of around Rs 40 crores this month.

With Diwali right around the corner, the Indian film industry is expected to see a huge rise in these numbers with some of the heavyweights battling it out in the initial stages of the month. Only time will tell how much rise will be recorded in the upcoming months.
