Dhurandhar Sets Japan Release After Record Run

Dhurandhar rocked the landscape of Hindi cinema in a way that no movie has for a long time, leaving a massive impact on the overall Indian film industry. The dominance of the first part wasn’t limited to India; it transcended borders across the globe. This Aditya Dhar and Ranveer Singh collaboration has spent several weeks rewriting the record books. After an amazing theatrical run in India and the West, the movie now sets its sights on the Land of the Rising Sun: Japan.

Jio Studios and B62 Studios recently confirmed that the first instalment of this gargantuan duology will officially release in Japan on July 10, 2026.

The excitement surrounding the Japan release isn’t just hype, it’s backed by a staggering financial legacy. Since its worldwide debut in December 2025, Dhurandhar (Part 1) has raked in over ₹1,328 crore (approx. $150 million) globally.

It also emerged as the #1 Hindi movie of all time in the West and cemented itself as the highest-grossing Indian movie in Australia and Canada.

Japan has developed a unique and passionate appetite for Indian “Masala” and high-concept action cinema. From the cult success of Muthu in the ’90s to the recent explosive popularity of RRR, Japanese audiences have shown they crave larger-than-life characters and technical finesse, two things Dhurandhar has in spades.

The film, which features Ranveer Singh as a daring Indian intelligence agent infiltrating the Karachi underworld, blends gritty realism with high-stakes spectacle. Directed by Aditya Dhar, the movie was praised for its technical finesse, ruthless action, and immersive storytelling.

Apart from Singh, the first part boasted a heavyweight ensemble including Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, Sara Arjun, and Arjun Rampal.

In Japan, the film will be released with localised promotional material, including posters featuring the title in Japanese characters, to capture the same “Dhurandhar energy” that turned it into a cultural event in India.

The Japan release is a strategic masterstroke. With Part 1 performing extremely well at the box office and the sequel, Dhurandhar: The Revenge, still going strong, the franchise is on track to become one of the most successful in Asian cinema history.

Mark your calendars, Tokyo. The mission commences on July 10, 2026. Stay tuned for more updates.
