Nostalgia is a big part of one’s being, to survive a lonely road when you are grown up, nostalgia and holding on to your past is the only key which will keep you alive.
Similarly Bollywood is right now thriving on nostalgia as they are re releasing their old gems.
Starting from “Rockstar” to “Laila Majnu” and now “Tumbbad” Bollywood chooses to showcase its underrated gems and give it a chance to regain the success.
“Laila Majnu” was released in 2018, and back then only a group of fanatics gave it a chance and ended up loving it but a major part avoided the movie even without giving it a chance.
The song “O Meri Laila” was a super hit back then but the movie was not. With the re-release “Laila Majnu” got the attention and love it deserved paving a way for other underrated gems to flourish in this time.
The prominent example being “Tumbbad”, a cult classic horror movie which got no luck, based on an Indian folklore with fantastic visuals “Tumbbad’s” luck was not in its favour back then.
But right now as the audience is carving for more mythological movies we can see as a result most of the recent horror movies are box office successful, as an example we can highly count on “Stree 2”.
“Laila Majnu’s” success proved that a good storyline aligned with good acting can still steal people’s heart and that was the key for Bollywood to re release “Tumbbad”.
Both these re-releases gathered a humongous amount of audience as both of it had two similarities, number being bringing a solid structured storyline, and finally a fine visual representation which attracted the audience like light attracts moths.
