IFFI To Honour Indian Film Legends

In honour of the 100th birthdays of four Indian film icons Raj Kapoor, Tapan Sinha, Akkineni Nageswara Rao, and Mohammed Rafi the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) is presenting a tribute program. Restored versions of their classic films, such as Rafi’s “Hum Dono,” Sinha’s “Harmonium,” ANR’s “Devadasu,” and Kapoor’s “Awaara,” will be included in the 55th edition.

The restoration efforts will be carried out by the National Film Development Corporation and the National Film Archive of India.IFFI has scheduled separate celebration days for each of the dignitaries with ANR’s tribute set for Nov. 22, Kapoor’s for Nov. 24, Rafi’s for Nov. 26, and Sinha’s for Nov. 27.

The festival known as the Indian Film Institute (IFFI) honours the cultural importance of Indian cinema. It includes a curated exhibition, panel talks, and a sand art project at Kala Academy. A “Caravan of Songs” including 150 songs by Kapoor and Rafi as well as 75 songs related to Sinha and ANR is another feature of the festival.

The tribute program not only celebrates the legacies of these Legends but also shows their impact on Indian culture. By showcasing their work, IFFI ensures that their cultural legacy will continue to inspire future generations. They would always be a vital part of India’s cinematic heritage.
