Indian Cinema’s Trampled Gems Finally Shining!

Indian Cinema’s Trampled Gems Finally Shining!

Trample is a fairly strong word that means to crush or walk over. For decades, the Indian cinema system has been constructed in a way that a lot of gems are trampled upon. Take the case of a gem that had all the potential to attract the masses; Andaz Apna Apna. This extraordinary comedy led by Salman Khan and Aamir Khan went unnoticed by the audience and it is after so many years that people finally acknowledged it.

But, things are changing.

Take the case of “All We Imagine As Light”. The hauntingly beautiful movie is a matter of great curiosity among desi cinema fans. So much so that they raised questions to FFI when the movie was not selected for the Oscars.

Rana Daggubati has taken the lead in distributing the film in India. Given the support it is receiving from big stars, things look pretty good for All We Imagine As Light when it finally arrives for mass consumption in India.

A similar thing happened with “To Kill A Tiger” when Priyanka Chopra came on board as a producer.

The bottom line is, that the system is itself allowing itself to be open to more gems that would have remained hidden in a typical situation. This is a great and appreciable change that is truly transforming how we see films. Let’s hope that this new change continues to be proliferative.
