Whatever maybe the reviews here in homeland, Indian film ‘Do Patti’ is raking views globally and has maintained its position in Top 10 Global non-English Film list for second consecutive week.
This week ‘Do Patti’ secured the #2 spot on the list with 7.2 million views. Combining this with last week’s 5 million views the total becomes 12.2 million views ever since its debut on Netflix on 25th October.
‘Do Patti’ received mixed reviews and while the lead stars Kajol, Kriti Sanon and Shaheer Sheikh deliver excellent performances, the deceptive thriller feels uneven and a distant cousin of Netflix’s ’Haseen Dilruba’ (quite obvious as they share the same writer).
The cinematography in ‘Do Patti’ is good and so are the dialogues and the narrative but the social message that it tries to give isn’t integrated well enough. Also, the starting is a bit dull and non-happening.
But the viewers seem to be liking the film around the world especially in South American, Asian and African continents. It will be interesting to see how long ‘Do Patti’ continues to remain in the Top 10 Global non-English film list of Netflix.
One other Indian film that has been on this same list for past two weeks is Karthi and Arvind Swami starrer Tamil drama ‘Meiyazhagan’ moving from 7th to 6th number this week. It has been viewed 4.7 million times in these two weeks.
