Is Revamped Star Cast Enough To Save Tiger Shroff & His ‘Baaghi 4’

There has been back to back cast reveal announcement for Tiger Shroff led ‘Baaghi 4’, the next instalment of his popular and successful ‘Baaghi’ film franchise. It was Sanjay Dutt first followed by Sonam Bajwa and now Miss Universe Harnaaz Sandhu is set to make her acting debut with ‘Baaghi 4’.

The star cast does look quite varied and exciting but is it all that is needed to make ‘Baaghi 4’ a hit? Well, to be honest howsoever the films of ‘Baaghi’ franchise are story wise, they have all had a great box office run. So why doubt this latest part?

There can two reasons for such skepticism. One, Tiger Shroff’s continuous flops as a lead hero (not counting ‘Singham Again’ since he had a supporting role in it). For the past quite some time now, he has had consecutive box office duds, whether it was ‘Heropanti 2’, ‘Ganapath’, or ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’. Not to forget, all of them had high anticipations before release.

Moreover, neither of these films had a strong storyline, leading to doubts on his script selection. Even when one looks at Tiger’s filmography, almost all of it belongs to some kind of action genre that has eventually led to him being stereotyped to one category of roles with not much to offer in terms of versatility.

And given ‘Baaghi 4’ belongs to same action genre and is part of a franchise whose strongest suit isn’t its plotline, and hence the doubts seem pretty obvious.

Second reason that raises suspects for ‘Baaghi 4’ is that with the advent of OTT, people know any and every film will land on digital media in some weeks and thus prefer to watch only certain kinds of tentpole films, like ‘Kalki 2898AD’ or ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’ or those with great word of mouth like ‘Lucky Baskhar’ or ‘Amaran’, in theatres. While ‘Baaghi 4’ does not fall in the former category, one cannot say whether it will fall in the latter before release.

The only thing that works in favour of ‘Baaghi 4’ currently is the franchise’s popularity and past collections and maybe it works once again as it did for Ajay Devgn with ‘Singham Again’.
