The Indian film industry has a legacy of producing the greatest number of films per year which is maintained even now. But, is this maintenance the only requirement for better content and commercial returns for a project? The box office status of this year to date is lower when compared to the previous year due to several constraints.
The first eight months of this year had five top-grossing movies, three of them from Bollywood which is ‘Fighter’, ‘Shaitaan’, and ‘Stree 2’, along with two from the Telugu Industry like ‘Hanu-Man’ and ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ respectively.
According to the analytics, despite becoming a fruitful year for the industry, circumstances like the underperformance of some mammoth projects and the lack of releases due to the Lok Sabha elections and cricket matches during the first half of the year. Again, the comparison with the previous year has a drop of 7.5% as per the credible statistics.
The month of August had the record of creating the highest box office collection where the Hindi movie ‘Stree 2’ became its driving factor. Even though the collection figure has a fall of 20% in comparison with the previous year on or around the same month. Also, the movie is set to become the highest-grossing Hindi film of all time.
As per reliable figures, the Telugu movie ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ is set to become the highest-grossing Indian Film of all time. The box office figures in Malayalam and Kannada movies declined by now albeit tasting its success in the earlier months of the year. A detailed report of the former’s box-office status will be posted.
However, there can be a hope of upcoming festive hits for the second half of this year like ‘Pushpa the Rule’, ‘Singham Again’, ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’, and ‘Baby John’ respectively. Adding on that, Hollywood releases like ‘Venom: The Last Dance’, ‘Joker: Folie A Deux’, ‘Blitz’, ‘Gladiator 2’, and ‘Lord of the Rings: The War of The Rohirrim’ can create a better commercial wave.
Hopefully, a fruitful and satiable blockbuster year in the Film industry is expected for 2025.
