Many films have passed with minimal or no cuts, which is why movies like “Animal” and “Kill” were released easily with an ‘A’ certificate. There’s a clear trend toward more violent, A-rated films, as audiences have grown tired of generic action and are now seeking unhinged, blood-soaked stories. This, however, is where “Jigra” might fall short. The film could be missing the opportunity to be a brutal, violent, A-rated, female-led movie — something Bollywood has rarely seen.
A recent example from the Tamil film industry is “Quotation Gang: Part 1”, a female-led action movie starring Sunny Leone and Priyamani, alongside Jackie Shroff. It was released with an ‘A’ certificate and has been praised by audiences.
A lot is riding on “Jigra’s” shoulders. It has the potential to be the next big thing in the industry. The movie centers around a girl on a mission to save her brother — a female-led action film, which is a rare occurrence in Bollywood. Such films are often met with skepticism, as seen with the poor reception of “Dhaakad”, which is rarely talked about.
