Due to deep exposure from Hollywood, Indians have developed a strange and quick taste for gory content. Gore can usually be combined with action and thrill. When action is mixed with gore then we get a film like Kill which gives us a moment of shock but does not stay with us for a long time. On the other hand, thrill makes it far more interesting.
More importantly, the definition of diversity in mainstream OTT is limited to the inclusion of Telugu, Tamil and at max Malayalam content. Rarely do we see the inclusion of Punjabi while others remain ignored. But, SonyLIV has done something really amazing in this.
They are not only coming up with a Marathi series but with a really promising star cast and a fairly good dubbing. Manvat Murders stars Ashutosh Gowariker, Sai Tamhankar, Makarand Anaspure, Sonali Kulkarni, Kishor Kadam and Mayur Khandge. Yes, the same Ashutosh Gowarikar who used to direct films like Lagaan and Jodha Akbar.
It will start streaming from the 4th of October on SonyLIV and the trailer has been revealed. It is inspired by real incidents that took place in the 1970s Maharastra. The trailer is looking super interesting and may work wonders if the promotions are done well. As SonyLIV has a strong base in Kerala, this series may help them establish one in Maharastra. Let’s see how they use it.
