Kritika Kamra- an actress who has been seen in various mediums such as films, TV and OTT, recently talked about her love for the OTT platforms. Recently, the actress was seen in a Zee5 original series Gyaarah Gyaarah in the role of a cop, Vamika.
The actress talked about how OTTs are allowing the creators to make more creative narratives. She stated, “OTT platforms have opened up new doors for storytelling in India. It’s the perfect place to prioritise stories above anything else- the star cast, the budget, the presenter, the number of screens, etc. That’s why OTT is a democratic platform for new-age stories to be told in the most authentic way, with a cast that is genuinely suited with the length that does justice to a story.”
Having worked in multiple platforms, she elucidated the differences that the TV shows have a burden of reaching high TRP and in films its all about box-office collections. This restricts the creativity in the project and makes it a consumer product. OTT overcomes this issue as it has no formula working for it. Hence you can get diverse stories and see them doing well.
Multiple actors are now moving towards the OTT space because they believe they can get more creative liberty. The OTT spaces are free from limitations like box-office and TRP, creating a complete entertainment package, taking big stars for exposure etc. This lets the makers focus on the story leading to the development of a good work. With a few exceptions, most of the actors in the industry are currently taking a liking over OTT platforms.
