No Hindi Films For This Weekend- Is It A Problem

The year 2024 has not been good so far financially for Bollywood. Although we have witnessed an All-Time-Blockbuster in the name of Stree 2, most of the films this year have suffered miserably. If not for the re-releases, the year would have been near to blank in terms of Bollywood hits. There also have been many weeks where no film was released and the week went in vain.

This week too, will not witness any Hindi releases. Last Hindi film was released on 27th September- Binny and Family. The film could not become a mainstream work for its low reception as well as promotion. After this, the next Hindi film will be released on 11th October after a span of almost two weeks. Two films will be released on the day namely- Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video and Jigra.

Last weekend saw a big rise in the box office with the release of Devara, and the films releasing in its vicinity would have suffered due to its high popularity. The next week will also witness the release of multi-starrer Vettaiyan which is supposed to be one of the biggest films of the year. But considering the fact that Devara’s craze seems to be reducing among people and the film is being substantially affected day-by-day in terms of box office collection, this week would have been a good window for any Hindi release. Next week, any release will suffer due to Vettaiyan, hence if released this week, a film could have utilised the gap which makers failed to do.

Two films will clash next week (in Bollywood), if one had preponed its release to this week, the clash could have been avoided resulting in increased profit due to less competition, also, the film could have avoided being released close to Vettaiyan which can shake the viewership of other films.

But supposedly the makers were looking at Devara which was anticipated to be a magnanimous film. They had expected it would be difficult to gain an audience even in the following week in which Devara was released and hence they went near Vettaiyan’s release. And as post-Vettaiyan, a lot of big films are piled up in both Hindi and non-Hindi industries, the makers tried to avoid further delay.

Nonetheless, the fact is that this week will be devoid of any Hindi films being released, and considering the current situation makers have missed a good chance to gain some audience and become a substantial hit.
