In this day and age, no stones are left unturned by marketing teams to promote their products to as large groups of audiences as possible. So much so, that when something isn’t promoted all that much, it raises all sorts of questions within the minds of those anticipating it.
Case in point: the utter lack of promotions being done for Anurag Basu’s highly awaited ‘Metro… In Dino’. Considering that the film’s release date has been pushed further by a week to November 29, one would expect promotions to be in full swing, at least now. However, there is not much difference from the initial lack of it.
November 29 will also witness the release of two other anticipated titles: ‘Moana 2’ in English as well as Siddharth’s Tamil rom-com ‘Miss You’. While this could prove to be a fun clash at the box-office, there isn’t really any online conversation about ‘Miss You’ either.
Moreover, English titles don’t seem to be performing well at the Indian box-office lately, especially in the aftermath of the fiasco that was ‘Joker: Folie à Deux’. Even the Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo led ‘Wicked’ seems to be having a lukewarm run amidst Indian viewers.
Which is to say, while the upcoming weekend has the potential to provide viewers with a fun set of options to choose from, that can only happen if audiences are aware of these films even being released in the first place.
