Raaj Shaandilya’s new film Vicky Vidya Ka Wo Wala Video (VVKWWV), starring Rajkummar Rao and Tripti Dimri, is about to be released on 11th October. Amidst this, the director and writer of the film Raaj Shaandilyaa is being accused to have been plagiarized from a previous script.
Producer Sanjay Tiwari accused the writer-director of plagiarizing the concept and story of the film from a script that was written by Gulbanu Khan. Notably, the previous script of Shaandilyaa, Janhit Mein Jaari, also faced criticism for originality issues.
Tiwari claims Shaandilya took the original idea of his script from Gulbanu Khan’s 2015 project titled Sex Hai Toh Life Hai…? The project was already registered and was set for production. Sanjay said regarding the film, “I had plans to start the film in 2017-18. The title Sex Hai Toh Life Hai…? was registered by me with WIFPA in 2018 and we were working on the script. But because of some personal issues, it was delayed and then the pandemic started.”
He added, “The central idea is, husband and wife shoot their own private video for themselves, for a healthier relationship and the CD/DVD goes missing. After watching the promo we realized that Vicky Vidya Ka Who Wala Video revolves around the same idea. So, we had sent legal notice to all the makers and were waiting for their revert from everyone. If we do not get the revert within the next 2-3 days then we will take the appropriate action.”
As the script by Gulbanu has already been registered under the Screen Writers Association in 2015. The film might get under controversy for this issue and if the matter escalates, it may lead to the delaying of the film, which will not be a good thing for the team.
