After Yudhra, now The Buckingham Murders also announced to sell the tickets for the movie at only ₹99 only. This will be done to celebrate the National Cinema Day on 20th September. The Buckingham Murders is a suspense drama starring Kareena Kapoor Khan and directed by Hansal Mehta. Kareena also has produced the film.
Last few days have not been good for the film. Despite being launched in two languages, the film made an opening day collection of just more than 1 crores. The next two days (weekends) followed with 1.95 crores and 2.15 crores and then again the movie came back to 0.8 and 0.75 crores on the fourth and fifth days respectively. In total, the film has now earned about 7 crores in total.
The film had no direct competition in the mainstream. Although, Tumbbad, which is a re-release, has stolen the show. The Buckingham Murders currently suffer to stay in the scenario. Without direct competition too, it is unable to make a good earning. Now this strategy of selling cheap tickets would be its last effort to create a buzz around it and sell some tickets. Though momentary, still the film might grab the attention of a significant number of people and turn some good profit.
But considering the situation right now, one cannot be sure if this strategy will work or not. Looking at the scenario, Tumbbad is already selling its tickets at cheap rates, and a person will always choose it over the former. Also, Yudhra too announced the same cheap tickets at ₹99 and being an action film, it will be favoured by the audience to watch.
Finally, it will be safe to say though The Buckingham Murders, though will get a significant boost from this strategy, considering its rigorous failure on the box office. But we cannot say the film will gain a significant enough crowd to take out other films that have already been released and are upcoming ahead.
