Tigmanshu Dhulia, a veteran filmmaker, is recently in the news for his upcoming short film The Promise, made for the Royal Stag Barrel Select Large Short Films. The film will be screened in the upcoming MAMI film festival. In an interview with PTI, the filmmaker talked about his views regarding the OTT spaces.
He explained that people on OTT spaces don’t have a sense of making good content. He had worked on several OTT series before, and his experience was not satisfactory. He said he would rather go for a theatrical release instead.
The filmmaker also dictated his upcoming projects to PTI. Apart from the upcoming short film, he is awaiting the release of Ghamasan- a cop-dacoit thriller. The film will see Pratik Gandhi and Arshad Warsi in the leading roles. He will also be coming up with a biopic of a prominent figure from the industry. Although he has not disclosed the identity of his subject. Regarding the project he said, “I am directing something big, and it will take a lot of time. It’s a biopic of a personality from the film industry. I’m writing it.”
While talking about his next release, Tigmanshu said he will be releasing it theatrically and not on OTT which is “bekaar”. Which shows his utter dissatisfaction from the field.
He also talked about his experience in making the short film. He said he was curious to explore the medium when the team at the company asked him to make a short film. He said, “ Short films are not formula-driven, you get to try something new regarding the story, so it was exciting to do.” The film stars Jim Srabh and Priyamani and expects a good response soon after its release.
