Upcoming Weekend: Which Film Will Stand Out From Diverse Slate?

Lately, you can never really tell with the Indian film industry. There will either be a dozen options to choose from on a single weekend, or, on the other hand, there will be weeks without the release of significant titles in any language. And this is something that has started happening much too frequently.

Take the case of the upcoming weekend, for example. November 22 is on its way to bringing to theatres an extremely diverse slate of titles to choose from. So much so, that these titles aren’t only limited to Indian releases, but also international ones. However, that is not such a good thing in itself, either.

The slate includes three Marathi titles, two Hindi films, including Ajay Devgn’s long-delayed thriller project ‘Naam’, the much-awaited Grand Prix (Cannes 2024) winning Malayalam film ‘All We Imagine As Light’, in addition to English movies like the anticipated musical ‘Wicked’ as well as ‘Christmas Eve In Miller’s Point’, amongst a wider array of features.

While this poses as a good set for audiences to choose from this weekend, the amount of titles releasing on the same day will undoubtedly affect the box-office collections of each and every title. Moreover, taking into consideration the lukewarm promotion that has been done for some of these movies, their collections will also be adversely affected.

Which is to say, the upcoming weekend seems promising only for the box-office, collectively, and not a title, individually.
