The third installment of Venom- Venom: The Last Dance, has now been released in cinemas worldwide. The film is a Marvel release which makes it a highly anticipated film of the year, on the top of it, the film is the part of a film series which had been successful in both the projects that were released.
In India, Marvel has a great fan base and most of the films released by it have been superhits in the country. Even the last two Venom films have been superhits in India. Considering the fact that the films are made in a foreign language, they had a huge impact in the Indian box office.
The third installment of the film also seems to be in full effect. The film has collected over 30 crores in the first three days of its release in India. This number is far more than most of the films released in this month in India. The rate in which the film is earning too is surprising.
Less than a week is left for several big Indian releases to be out in theatres. The popularity of Venom can be a threat to the potential collection of the films. Though the film does not seem to affect Singham Again in an impactful manner (as it has a huge hype built around it now)), the film can still be problematic for several other Indie releases. Bagheera and Amaran are some of these titles. Bagheera too is a film that uses a superhero like plot. This will make Venom a big competition for it. Some of the films that do not already have a hype built around them, will find it more competitive to shine in the presence of Venom.
As most of the big releases will take place in the time of Diwali, they might face difficulty in competing with Venom which was released a week before Diwali. Though the film will pose a significant issue, it will not be big enough to completely outshine films. Also, if the films are good enough, they will receive better viewership in a day or two via word of mouth.
