Clashes between movies are not a new phenomenon, though they can be minimized by increasing the number of screens across the country. However, such clashes are inevitable. This Diwali, we are set to witness a major clash between two Bollywood films.
One is the highly anticipated and much-talked-about “Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3” starring Kartik Aaryan, and the other is the third installment of the fan-favorite franchise, “Singham Again”. Both movies come with their own strengths and weaknesses, which we’ll discuss here.
Both films have sold their OTT rights at astonishing prices. “Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3” was sold to Sony at a price of ₹135 crore, while “Singham Again” fetched an even higher price, close to ₹200 crore. Though “Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3” is trailing behind “Singham Again” in this regard, it can still offer tough competition due to its unique genre as a horror-comedy. Another factor that could work in its favor is the nostalgia linked to theories involving Vidya Balan and Madhuri Dixit (according to some sources).
“Singham Again”, on the other hand, is banking on the star power of Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, and Ranveer Singh. While these are much bigger stars compared to Kartik Aaryan, it’s worth noting that the recent films of all three actors have been disappointing at the box office. However, the addition of Deepika Padukone as a new cast member might boost the film’s prospects.
In terms of marketing, “Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3” has already started releasing teasers, whereas we’ve seen very little from “Singham Again”. It’s going to be a fierce clash between the two films. What “Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3” needs to focus on now is leveraging Kartik Aaryan’s current popularity as well as Vidya Balan’s iconic “Manjulika” character. If they play their cards right, it could give “Singham Again”, which is already burdened with high expectations from its star-studded cast, a run for its money.
