Yash Raj Films had teased about ‘Mardaani 3’ back in August this year, and now there is an official launch of the same. With this Rani Mukerji will return to reprise her role as Shivani Shivaji Roy, a fierce cop whose determination and courage knows no bound.
The first instalment of the franchise, ‘Mardaani’, came out in 2014 with highly positive reviews and praises for Mukerji’s performance. The film also was a commercial success. It was followed by ‘Mardaani 2’ that released five year later in 2019 which once again opened to great reviews and box office collections.
Now five years later, ‘Mardaani 3’ has been officially conceived, production for which is reportedly expected to begin in April 2025 with the film eventually release on the big screen sometime in 2026.
‘Mardaani 3’ will be directed by Abhiraj Minawala and written by Aayush Gupta. Minawala started as assistant director for Yash Raj Films and later made his directorial debut with ‘Loveyatri’. The film is produced by Aditya Chopra.
‘Mardaani 3’ has been described as dark, deadly and brutal, raising curiosity and expectations for the film. Fans are eagerly waiting to see Rani return into cop shoes and solve the case just like before.
Rani Mukerji has not been seen on the big screen that often in the past few years but her last film ‘Mrs. Chatterjee Vs Norway’ was phenomenal. She earned huge acclaim and also won several accolades for her role in it. Hopefully ‘Mardaani 3’ will live up to the expectations its predecessors have set and fans will once again get to see an intense cop drama.
