After Getting Trashed On BO, Akshay Kumar’s Film Wins On OTT

Khel Khel Mein, a multi starrer film that was released on August 15th, got a very bad response in theatres. The film amassed a huge cast that included prominent names like Akshay Kumar, Tapsee Pannu, Vaani Kapoor, Aditya Seal, Ammy Virk and Fardeen Khan. Still the film was a flop in the theatres with a collection of 57 crores against the 100 crores budget.

Recently, the film was released on the OTT platform by Netflix. By the looks of it, the film is getting a great response on the platform. The film is currently holding the first position on Netflix’s What’s Trending List of India. The film has also been the most searched comedy film on streaming platforms in recent days.

This is a very peculiar thing that a film that got such a bad response in theatres is getting more attention than even the highest grossing Tamil film of the year GOAT. Moreover, it has not even been one week since the film was released on Netflix and it has already become the most searched comedy in recent days.

Possible reasons could be the film did not make a good presentation in front of audiences in its theatre release. As a result the film did not garner much attention and got a low viewership. On the contrary, when the film was released on OTT, nothing extra was demanded from the audience. They just had to give the film a chance. For that they only needed the subscription for Netflix.

As a result, people watched the film out of curiosity and liked it. More people came ahead and they liked it as well. This initiated a process where the film got a good response via word of mouth and the film gained a good viewership, emerging finally as a successful venture (though not financially).
