These movies did not have a mass appeal on the big screens but they absolutely killed it on OTT. So much so that they sprinted above many big star films.
What happens to a film that became a big hit on the big screen?
Take the case of Munjya. While it grossed an insane 130+ Crores at the box office, the film did not very well on OTT. Thanks to the subscriber base of Disney+Hotstar, it managed to gross a lot of views but the talks surrounding the film were not at all good.
It is very very rare for a film to do good on both OTT and big screens. Thus, we see films like Maharaja coming only once in a while. Well, there is finally a film that joins the elite list of Maharaja.
We are talking about Stree 2. You see, it is one of the most-watched titles on the Indian OTT right now and it is trending pretty high in the entire Indian OTT space. If we trust JustWatch, then it is trending at #1 on all Indian OTTs put together while Vedaa and Khel Khel Mein are nowhere close.
Stree 2 is an extraordinary success and it is resonating equally strong on OTT. This film will remain a benchmark.
