Akshay Kumar, an actor who has been facing one of the most difficult phases of his career, has been struggling to find box office success. Despite his continuous efforts, audiences seem to be losing interest in his films. One possible reason might be his frequent appearances, with new releases every two or three months.
This constant presence in mediocre films has turned Akshay into a subject of jokes, and even when he tries something different, his efforts often go unnoticed. For instance, “Sarfira”, a remake of Suriya’s “Soorarai Pottru”, tells the extraordinary journey of an ordinary man striving to make a societal change. There is nothing wrong with the subject, and both Akshay’s and Radhika’s performances were commendable. However, the movie didn’t work.
Today the movie released on Disney+ hotstar and still there is little to no buzz about the movie. Perhaps it’s due to Akshay’s seemingly lazy approach or his usual script choices. Another reason could be original movie being already available on prime video and various platforms.
While other actors are delivering mass action films or horror thrillers, offering something unique in each of their projects, Akshay must also take a bold step to surprise the audience.
Even his most recent film, “Khel Khel Mein”, wasn’t a bad film at all. In fact, it was a well-executed remake. Yet, audiences seem tired of the constant remakes coming from Akshay’s side.
Those who have seen “Stree 2” know how impactful his cameo was. Akshay is aware that no one can match him when it comes to comic roles. Considering the current popularity of horror comedies, his upcoming project “Bhoot Bangla”, directed by Priyadarshan, seems like a smart choice.
