Amaran’s OTT Deal: Too Cheap?

This Diwali was illuminated with the release of this much anticipated Tamil film “Amaran” starring Sivakarthikeyan.

On 31st October 2024, “Amaran” hit the theatres and with its captivating screenplay, cinematography, action, and acting the movie gathered a wide range of appreciation.

But now the exciting news is for those who had missed “Amaran”’s larger than life performance in the theatres.

With ₹60 cr Netflix bought “Amaran”s OTT rights.

Now “Amaran” is expected to launch on Netflix after four weeks after it finishes its box office run.

The film is an adaptation of Shiv Aroor and Rahul Singh’s book series “India’s Most Fearless: True Stories of Modern Military Heroes”.

“Amaran”, is a biographical action-war film, brings to life the inspiring story of Major Mukund Varadarajan, played by Sivakarthikeyan.

Alongside him, Sai Pallavi, Bhuvan Arora, and Rahul Bose deliver captivating performances.

But another daunting question is the movie itself had the budget of ₹130cr and it has already grossed ₹150cr.

So why Netflix being one of the largest giants bought it with so little money being ₹60cr ?

Being such a big platform buying the rights of a recent box office hit, the price tag seems a bit too low.

However, after four weeks, which is at the very end of November, “Amaran” will be average on Netflix.
