Amazon MX Player has launched the trailer of it’s upcoming original series ‘Chidiya Udd’ that takes the viewers through the treacherous underbelly of 1990s Mumbai. Helmed by Ravi Jadhav, ‘Chidiya Udd’ will premiere on Amazon MX Player on 15th January, 2025.
‘Chidiya Udd’ trailer shows how a young girl named Seher (Bhoomika Meena) runs away from her home in Rajasthan to Mumbai where she enters the scandalous world of a sex worker. While trying to navigate her way through this unforgiving city of Mumbai, she finds herself caught in a dangerous landscape of criminals where she often needs to shift alliances.
Having been through a lot, she is determined and ain’t ready to back down in this fight for survival. Meanwhile, Qadir (Jackie Shroff) plays the role of a don who controls it all and nothing can go unnoticed under his watch. The trailer also gives glimpses of other characters from the show but they don’t seem so relevant.
‘Chidiya Udd’ feels like an amalgamation of various other crime thriller dramas that have explored the Mumbai underworld of the 90s that almost ram a parallel economy and the dark world of human trafficking and sex workers. The setting, the feel, everything feels seen and heard in bits and pieces and there is a conspicuous lack of newness in this crime thriller tale.
Based on Aabid Surti’s critically acclaimed novel “Cages”, ‘Chidiya Udd’ is directed by Ravi Jadhav and stars Jackie Shroff, Bhoomika Meena, Sikandar Kher, Madhur Mittal, Mayur More, Mita Vashisht, Flora Saini, Abha Parmar and Upen Chauhan in pivotal roles. The show is written by Mohinder Pratap Singh, and Chintan Gandhi.
‘Chidiya Udd’ is produced by Harman Baweja and Vicky Bahri and will premiere on Amazon MX Player on 15th January, 2025.
