“The Pradeeps of Pittsburgh” is here to give you an insider view of the first generation struggle faced by an Indian family who just shifted to America.
But, the problem is most of the shows which are based on the issues of Indians are still treated as a regional content.
Where series like “Heeramandi” were appreciated by a humongous amount of audience from the foreign lands, is it the lack of marketing which makes these shows less popular?
Inspired by the life of showrunner Vijal Pate, “The Pradeeps of Pittsburgh,” an eight-episode comedy series, directed by Vijal Patel, which we can call a semi autobiographical series.
The series follows Pradeep’s life and hilarious, sometimes melancholic and some romantic sceneries when they shifted to America, having a polar opposite neighbourhood.
“The Pradeeps of Pittsburgh”, shines a comedic light on the centuries-old, universally relatable first-generation experience.
Now the question is can it be an international hit?
Well, because it is actually based on a real life story it has the potential to hit hard on the people who have experienced diaspora, and that’s exactly what happens in Pradeep.
So for a generation who has gone through that struggle of adjustment it has a potential to leave an indelible mark.
But now another question arises, will it affect the new “Gen Z” culture?
Because most of the viewership we currently have right now are the young generation. We aren’t familiar with the struggle of being in a place where they don’t have a roof on top.
So from that perspective it can be a very boring series, but the positive part is because it is a comedy series it might evoke laughter within them.
Now, if we compare them with the popular series which were appreciated outside, that’s only because of the sheer marketing that they have done, but with “The Pradeeps of Pittsburgh” we don’t see enough marketing and as well as they haven’t promoted it that much as well, which can be a bummer for the series.
The series stars Megan Hilty, Pete Holmes, Ethan Suplee, Romy Rosemont, and Nicholas Hamilton in crucial roles.
The show is set to release on 17th of October on Prime Video.
Now it’s time to see whether it shines or not!
