Do Patti: A Promising Thriller That Fails to Deliver

When a movie promises a lot there is always this fear of not delivering the expected result, something similar happened with Kriti and Kajol’s new movie, “Do Patti”.

Directed by Shashanka Chaturvedi this movie gathered the attention of a major portion of the audience, but if you overdo it and over simplify the plot the result will be the same as “Do Patti”.

“Do Patti” touches a very sensitive topic, which is “Domestic Violence”. The very cruel and vivid portrayal of domestic violence, this movie tried to tickle the sentiments of the audience, but fell flat with its over predictable and straight storyline.

This movie promised to be a psychological thriller, where from the very beginning they tried to paint two characters where one is a white character and one is black. But, in the end it turns out both of the characters were morally grey.

While describing the story of a twin sister and how the rivalry between them grew more as they fought for the same man, the story established from the very beginning that the man is wrong here.

So simply from that point the audience understood that the movie is not going to portray any of those sisters in a wrong light, and that is exactly what happened.

From the very beginning a major portion of the audience declared that they aren’t trusting “Do Patti” as the writer, Kanika Dhillon can’t write well, it looks like they were right.

The film also tried to introduce us with a new duo, with Kriti and Kajol, but it feels like both of them over did their own character so much that it wasn’t even gripping to the audience.

Amidst them Shaheer Sheikh’s character shined bright because, among them he did some sort of trustable acting.

To sum it up, with a very predictable and flat storyline the movie fell short in satisfying the audience’s expectations.
