Kangana Ranaut’s Emergency needs an emergency release on the big screens. For many many months, she is only trying and trying to get the film released but it is only in vain.
After several delays, a release date of 17th January has been finalized. Since it looks like a release that would actually happen, the actress talked about something important. The release itself.
She said:
”I felt that it was a wrong decision to release it in theatres. I thought I could have gotten a better deal on OTT. I also wouldn’t have had to go through censorship then and my film wouldn’t have been dissected. I didn’t know what all they (the CBFC) would remove and let us keep.”
Well well well, that is some news. She indeed ought to have released the film on OTT. Due to several delays and consecutive disasters, the film is already not very likely to gain success. But at least there was some scope of a good deal on OTT.
If not anything else then curiosity would have driven people into watching the entire movie. After all, it is a political film. But, that opportunity is now lost.
It is quite evident that makers choose the direct to OTT route when they have to make a safe decision. Kangana missed it and we will see what fate Emergency carries.
