Has Prime Video Lost Faith In ‘Paatal Lok’?

‘Paatal Lok’ Season 2 is coming back to Prime Video on 17th January, 2025 and surprisingly there’s isn’t much hype for it. Well, the more than four year long gap between the two seasons might be a strong reason for it, but still, is it justified?

It definitely doesn’t feel like so. In fact, it looks like Prime Video isn’t much interested in this sequel season that takes the viewers to Nagaland where something very sinister is happening. This change of location reminds us of another very popular Prime Video show ‘The Family Man’ where following seasons catch up with new crimes in new locations.

But unlike ‘The Family Man’, ‘Paatal Lok’ isn’t getting the kind of response it should despite having a phenomenal run with season one. A part of this blame has to go to the lacklustre marketing by Prime Video.

The audience wasn’t intrigued enough about the launch of new season which initially was highly awaited after a magnificent first season but slowly the fire died down overtime. And for this very reason the promotions for season 2 needed more work and time.

Looking at Prime Video’s routine stuff with a date announcement, teaser and trailer for ‘Paatal Lok’ season 2, it seems the global streamer doesn’t have much faith in this returning season.

It wouldn’t be wrong to say that this same level of confidence might also reflect in the audience reaction for ‘Paatal Lok’ season 2. The only saviour now can be a crisp storytelling accompanied by stellar performances, amazing cinematography and sharp editing. Hopefully ‘Paatal Lok’ season 2 is going to be strong enough to survive on it’s own and not depend on Prime Video’s support, which is pretty minimal and standard for now.
