Is Kapil Sharma’s Show Enough Promotion For The Buckingham Murders?

The Buckingham Murders has been creating stirs under the radar. With a brave female lead, strong writing, and the vision of a brilliant director, the film was instantly a hit amongst most of those who watched it in the theatres.

But the film didn’t even recover 40% of its cost. Made with a budget of 50 cr, the movie only made about 14.35 cr.

The movie had the potential to earn more with stronger marketing efforts. Limited interviews and a single trailer release left the film largely unnoticed, but this was an intentional decision.

The movie was created primarily with film festivals in mind. Completed about a year ago, it premiered at the BFI London Film Festival in October 2023. Since then, it has also made appearances at various other festivals in 2023, including MAMI. Hence there was very little spent on the promotion and marketing of the film.

Although the film’s cost might be recovered through the upcoming OTT release, the promotional efforts remain lacking. Kareena Kapoor’s appearance on The Kapil Sharma Show was a rare instance, but beyond that, there’s been little promotion.

This fast-paced thriller makes the audience reflect on societal upheavals and communal issues, establishing it as a significant work of art for today’s viewers.

The film’s promotion has been lacklustre, but with a little effort, this important and thrilling story can impact and resonate with a larger audience.
