Might be a controversial statement to make, but if the Indian OTT landscape were to witness a phenomenon comparable to that of shows like ‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians’, it would probably be through none other than, Karan Johar.
Considering the fact that the man is practically considered a father to most of the young generation of actors in Bollywood today, it only makes sense that whatever he comes up with, is tinted with a touch of Gen-Z, irrespective of whether or not it is wanted. Keeping that in mind, yet another reality TV show is upcoming from the affluent director.
‘The Tribe’ will premiere exclusively on Prime Video on October 4th, and will chronicle the lives of popularly known content creators like Alanna Panday, Alaviaa Jaaferi, Srushti Porey, Aryaana Gandhi, and Alfia Jafry, as well as digital evangelist and investor Hardik Zaveri.
It does not miss one’s notice, however, that the surnames of the cast members are, for the most part, recognizable ones. Which brings into question once again, the ever-looming debate regarding the prevalence of star kids over genuine talent in the Indian film industry. With a special focus on titles helmed by Johar himself.
