Netflix India is launching thrillers after thrillers, and not only are they thrillers, some of them are inspired by true stories.
Vikrant Massey’s new film “Sector 36” is one of the prominent examples of that, it got 7.3 on IMDb, and after “Kill” it is the most searched film on the streaming platforms. In just 2 weeks it garnered 6,100,000 views.
This movie captured the gruesome crime inspired by the Nithari serial Killing of Noida in 2005. With lots of creative twists and this movie also offers a spine chilling narrative which is a lot to take in.
But the question arises if we pay a keen eye on what’s going on in Netflix India the the controversy surrounding “IC 814”, which shows the real and gruesomeness of the plane hijack.
Being the largest streaming platform in India Netflix is dealing with its ongoing allegations against Netflix about the “IC 814” controversy, licensing issues, tax issues, racial discrimination. Netflix India is now in a deep problematic situation.
So there is a possibility that because of “IC 814’s” controversy “Sector 36” got a pass and people are watching it with more interest.
But, critics appreciate “Sector 36” very much the film’s pace, with no unnecessary song to disrupt the movie’s flow, and most importantly the twisty and shocking climax of the movie left a lasting Impact on the viewer’s mind.
Although, Vikrant Massey shines in his performance, but somehow fails to deliver that fully psychotic character aura.
With all fairness “Sector 36” is a very well woven movie but there are signs which indicate that the controversy helped it grow even more.
