Jio Cinema had bagged the rights for the Hindi dubbed version of the famous TV series Suits. Recently the series was released and by the looks of it, Jio Cinema has ruined the experience of Suits for people who wanted to watch it in Hindi.
The show originally was aired on June 23, 2011. The last season was aired on 2019 and after it, the show was added to Netflix from where it rose to immense popularity. Looking at its popularity in the OTT, Jio Cinema bought the show’s Hindi dub rights. People are not happy with the dub, as has often happened with Hindi dubs of famous shows and films.
The dub loses authenticity as the dialogues in Hindi are far away from what they were in English. Even if they do deliver the same meaning; the dialogues become just a statement and lose the impact they had in original language. Also, the way the voice artists have delivered the dialogues, the characters lose their shade. The lack of right tone of expression have made the show even boring and the characters become uninteresting to watch. Also, the voice artists used to dub the actors do not match the actor’s persona at all.
The Hindi dub of the show has completely marred many important scenes, situations and even characters. The bad quality of dubbing has made many pivotal characters lose the grip they had in the plot. Especially the characters of Mike Ross, Harvey Specter and Donna Paulsen have been destroyed.
Although Jio Cinema showed a good gesture by trying to dub one of the most popular shows into Hindi to make it available for a much wider range of audience; the mistakes that were committed in the pursuit of the gesture made the show even worse for the audience. For a person who is unaware of the show and is watching the Hindi dub for the first time, the first experience becomes really bad for them. Whereas, the person who has already watched the show and is watching the dub out of curiosity, they loose faith in dubs.
