JioHotstar has officially announced December 19 as the release date for Mrs Deshpande, marking Madhuri Dixit’s return to long-form storytelling on OTT. After The Fame Game and Maja Ma, this new project pushes the actress into a darker territory, for the first time, she will be seen playing a serial killer.
The platform unveiled a short date-announcement video revealing the tone of the series. In it, Dixit appears in a simple, de-glam look, casually chopping vegetables to the tune of Boli Si Surat from Dil To Pagal Hai. A radio bulletin interrupts the calm domestic setting, announcing that a serial killer remains uncaught after eight murders.
The moment ends with Dixit turning to the camera and delivering an unsettling smile, hinting at the psychological layers the show aims to explore.
Directed by Nagesh Kukunoor, Mrs Deshpande also features Siddharth Chandekar and Priyanshu Chatterjee. The series is produced by Applause Entertainment in association with Kukunoor Movies and is adapted from the French thriller La Mante.
With its intriguing premise and a rare, villainous turn from Madhuri Dixit, Mrs Deshpande is shaping up to be one of December’s most anticipated OTT releases.
