It is high time the players of Indian OTT realise that the players of Indian OTT realise that the length and breadth of Indian entertainment is not just limited to Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam. It is more widespread and it is high time they get acknowledged.
Take the case of Jatt and Juliet 3. The movie stars Diljit Dosanjh and Neeru Bajwa in the lead role along with Rana Ranbir, Jasmine Bajwa and many more. It got as good reviews as a romantic comedy film possibly can. But the box office numbers are to die for. It grossed over 100 Crores at the global box office which is rare even for a Kareena Kapoor film these days.
The movie is absolutely sensational, and if the makers dubbed it in Hindi, then possibly a lot more people would have watched it as Diljit Dosanjh is a pretty recognisable face even outside the borders of Punjab.
The sad part is that Indian OTT players are so concerned about some typical markets that they fail or, let’s say, forget to look for some great Punjabi, Marathi or Bengali films.
