There is massive confusion among audiences regarding the OTT release of Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge, and Netflix’s latest announcement has only made things more complicated.
Here is what is actually happening.
The first Dhurandhar film started streaming on Netflix India in late January, although it was the censored version of the film. Later, Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge released in theatres on March 19 and turned into one of the biggest blockbusters of all time.
Now comes the confusing part.
On May 14, Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge started streaming on Netflix but only for international audiences. Indian viewers still cannot legally stream the second part because the India OTT rights belong exclusively to JioHotstar.
JioHotstar has already confirmed that Dhurandhar 2 will release on the platform only after June 4. The platform is also promoting the film as “Raw & Undekha,” suggesting that viewers will get an extended version with additional footage.
However, late at night, Netflix India suddenly announced that Dhurandhar Raw & Undekha will release on May 22. This immediately led many fans to believe that Dhurandhar 2 was finally arriving on Netflix India as well.
That is completely false.
The Dhurandhar Raw & Undekha, releasing on Netflix India on May 22 is NOT Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge. It is the first part of the franchise to receive a new extended version.
The second part is still not releasing on Netflix India.
So, as of now, Indian audiences who want to legally watch Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge on OTT will still have to wait until June 4 for its release on JioHotstar.
