Before we move ahead, let me clarify one thing. It is only and only Netflix India that focuses on making original films. No other platform is least concerned about movies and they have absolutely no slate ready for the upcoming 6 months. So, kudos to Netflix India for that.
Anyway, there is something highly concerning about the original films that Netflix India produces. The movies are highly inconsistent in terms of watchability. Take the case of Amar Singh Chamkila or Sector 36. Both these movies are extraordinary in terms of watchability and they have a great re-watch value. Good for Netflix India, they got excellent reviews too.
But yet again movies like Do Patti and Muqaddar Ka Sikandar are really not worth it.
So what’s going on?
Lack of eye on script.
You see, Netflix India is more than capable of making films that are all great. The way they completely changed their slate in 2022 is a great example of how immense potential they have.
But, on a highly consistent basis, Netflix India is inconsistent in terms of good films. The problem can be solved if every script goes through people who have an understanding of the way films work and can change the stuff accordingly.
