Netflix has dropped the trailer for it’s first Indian original series of 2025 ‘Black Warrant’ and it definitely feels like one thrilling exploration of the world behind those heavily guarded prison walls.
Coming from the creator of ‘Sacred Games’, ‘Black Warrant’ will premiere on Netflix on 10th January, 2025.
Sunil Kumar Gupta (Zahan Kapoor) has got the job of Jailor/ Assistant Superintendent of Prison at the Asia’s largest prison Tihar but given his not so bold personality everyone keeps telling him that it’s not the job for him, including his mother and seniors.
Despite being a little intimidated of all that’s happening around him, Sunil is adamant to learn in the job and get better at it eventually.
Away from his personal struggles and moral dilemmas, there is a power struggle going on in Tihar Jail between a deadly gangster, who basically rules inside those prison walls and is ready to go to any extreme to show his power, and the prison authorities whose major concern is the protection of its staff.
In ‘Black Warrant’ Sunil and his colleagues navigate a system that challenges everything they believe. As Sunil grapples with moral dilemmas and power struggles, the drama reveals the raw and unfiltered reality of prison life.
‘Black Warrant’ is created and show run by Vikramaditya Motwane and Satyanshu Singh, who also serve as co-directors alongside Ambiecka Pandit, Arkesh Ajay and Rohin Raveendran Nair.
The series is inspired by true events and is a dramatised adaptation of the author and former superintendent at Tihar Jail, Sunil Gupta and journalist-author Sunetra Choudhury’s book, “Black Warrant: Confessions Of A Tihar Jailer.”
‘Black Warrant’ stars Zahan Kapoor, Rahul Bhat, Paramvir Singh Cheema, Anurag Thakur and Sidhant Gupta in prominent roles. Presented by Applause Entertainment, ‘Balck Warrant’ is an Andolan Production in association with Confluence Media and will land exclusively on Netflix on 10th January, 2025.
