A documentary on the life famous rapper and iconic music sensation Yo Yo Honey Singh came out on Netflix yesterday and has since been a hit topic of discussion over the internet, stirring nostalgia among fans.
Now Netflix is known for bringing out great documentaries but looks like it missed it’s own standards with ‘Yo Yo Honey Singh: Famous’ if public reactions are to go by. The documentary has elicited quite a mixed viewer response with many finding it to be a conscious image building attempt.
The doc film is being praised for shedding light on Honey Singh’s personal struggles with mental health issues particularly bipolar disorder and how he came out of it triumphantly and carved a path to success. Public is also acknowledging the fact how honestly and openly Honey Singh discusses about his mental illness.
But then there are criticisms about it being too superficial and shallow. ‘Yo Yo Honey Singh: Famous’ felt too rushed to many with not much exploration into complexities of his life and career. His drug issues and the Bollywood angle have been conveniently ignored it given lesser attention.
There is also a thought that Netflix’s ‘Yo Yo Honey Singh: Famous’ is rather undercooked and the kind of indie rap legend he is, he deserved a better documentary.
The documentary on Honey Singh is so boring that after watching just 10 minutes, i can bet this is Netflix's worst move pic.twitter.com/4NLc97KPpX
