Raat Jawaan Hai: A Fresh, Real Look at Parenthood and Modern Life

Raat Jawaan Hai A Fresh, Real Look at Parenthood and Modern Life

Sumeet Vyas, stepping away from his usual onscreen charm, takes a bold leap into directing with Raat Jawaan Hai. The show is about, well, parenthood but not in the way we often see. With Anjali Anand, Barun Sobti, and Priya Bapat in the lead roles, it’s setting for something interesting. The trailer is about the three best friends, Radhika, Suman, and Avinash, who are knee-deep in the chaos of raising kids while keeping up with their careers and friendships.

Now, the twist is that we’ve got a stay-at-home dad in the mix, and that’s a storyline not often explored, especially in Indian content. Avinash’s character adds this whole element of reversing the roles . A guy managing the household, staying home with the kids . However, in the trailer they don’t glorify him as a hero for doing it.

This story is trying to say that none of us are ready for adulthood or parenthood, no matter how much we believe we are. And that hesitation is something every one can relate to, parent or not.

Coming to SonyLIV on October 11, 2024 is the show. It’s one of those projects that could be a hit or miss depending on how these subtle issues are approached.

So will Raat Jawaan Hai Hit it off? It’s too early to say. It should be interesting at least, but whether it touches those chords is a matter of how real the series can stay, between the funny and the really painful, and between the funny and the really touching. However, for whoever is searching for something a little more down to earth, this is the one to watch.
