Sector 36: Horrifying Incident Also Needs a Documentary

Netflix India came up with Sector 36 last weekend. The film, led by Vikrant Massey and Deepak Dobriyal, is a harrowing tale of a murderer, a sick pervert and a policeman. At the crux of the brutal murders lies the fact that the system is more powerful than individuals, and corruption is ready to stamp upon anyone and everyone who refuses to submit to the system.

As people were watching the movie, despite the fantastic job of Vikrant Massey and Deepak Dobriyal, the expectation that a documentary would have served an even more chilling account lingered around.

Do you remember House of Secrets: The Burari Deaths? That documentary enraged the entire India with its spine-chilling revelations, and perhaps a feature film would not have been able to help with that.

Let’s take another example, this time of “Curry and Cyanide”. The documentary movie caused us to have nightmares last year solely due to its insanely chilling murders.

Sector 36 is no less brutal or horrifying than that tale. Perhaps a documentary would make a far greater impact. Don’t get us wrong, the film is absolutely worth it, but perhaps Netflix India needs to take the Dahmer approach over here.

Netflix came up with both a feature series and a documentary on Jeffrey Dahmer, and we all know the great response it received. Why not implement it in this case?

And we are not talking about the “Indian Predator” kind of thing. Netflix India certainly has better potential than what they did with Indian Predator.
