Sony LIV Is Re-Telling An ‘Expensive’ Slice Of Modern History!

The language of history is always a fascination for its tone. It makes the people ask questions, collect and analyse the enlisted facts, and the ability in bringing an epic discussion. Indian history is so vast and versatile that it possesses a plethora of dimensions and interpretations.

However, modern Indian history is one such breakthrough that has set up a revolution in its effort to which today’s people could differentiate between the pre-and post-independence eras respectively. What more could be better understood about the occurred events than a visual representation?

Therefore, Sony LIV is presenting a project named ‘Freedom at Midnight’, which is their highest-budget drama series to date. The effort is expected to discuss the freedom struggle and how relevant the learning of acquiring independence is carried out. But how can this release have an impact in today’s context?

The web series ‘Freedom at Midnight’ is based on a novel of the same name authored by Larry Collins and Dominique Lapierre that will take an important chapter on the disapproval, forming of the League party, and the suggestion in the partition of India by Mohammed Ali Jinnah, post the Nagpur Session in 1920.

The series will however be expected to talk about minorities and how these circles of citizens have faced the constraints during the freedom struggle. The claim of the ‘history that most of them didn’t know but should know’ is more or less bringing such a scenario.

Consequently, heated augmentations and debates by the audiences can be foreseen based on the storytelling which can affect the country’s political equilibrium due to its nature of a sensitive topic. Also, the history of political equations will be enlisting out that can lead to several allegations thereby becoming controversial.

The official teaser was released on the 30th of July and will be released in eight languages which include Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Bengali, Kannada, Marathi, and English respectively.

The series will have an ensemble cast of actors Sidhant Gupta, Rajendra Chawla, Arif Zakaria, Luke Mcgibney Cordelia Bugeja, Ira Dubey, Malishka Mendosa, Rajesh Kumar, K C Shankar, Andrew G Cullum, Alistair Findlay, and Richard Teverson respectively.

The web series will be directed by Nikhil Advani who has given feats like Hasmukh and Mumbai Diaries 26/11, and co-producing with Madhu Bhojwani and Monisha Advani for Emmay Entertainment. The effort is expected to be released in November.
