Aryan Khan’s debut series The Ba**ds of Bollywood* has quickly turned into a global conversation starter. Released on Netflix, the show collected 2.8 million views in just four days, which is an impressive feat considering most shows are tracked over a full week. It also reached 14.8 million hours of watch time and entered the top 10 most watched shows worldwide on the platform. Among non-English shows, it secured the number 4 position.
The series managed to outperform some popular titles, including Wednesday season one (last week views), and still found itself competing with global hits like Bon Appétit, Your Majesty, Billionaires’ Bunker, and The Dead Girls. Despite this, it could not surpass the record set by Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heeramandi, which holds the best first-week performance for an Indian show with 4.5 million views and 33 million hours watched.
You realise the gap? 4.5 vs 2.8. We must say that the views earned by The Bads of Bollywood is still underwhelming.
The story of The Ba**ds of Bollywood is a satire that explores the film industry through the eyes of Aasmaan Singh, a newcomer who tries to balance career dreams, love, and the chaos of Bollywood. The show has a star-studded cast that includes Bobby Deol, Mona Singh, Raghav Juyal, and Sahher Bambba, along with cameo appearances from major film icons such as Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, and Ranbir Kapoor.
While the series was expected to be a massive blockbuster, its start has been slightly underwhelming compared to the buzz around it. Still, it has marked a promising entry for Aryan Khan as a director and positioned itself as one of the most talked-about Indian shows on Netflix.
