Tere Ishq Mein was never as popular as Raanjhanaa, but OTT has clearly given it a second life. The numbers from its debut week make that impossible to ignore. In just one week in the top 10, the film recorded 38 lakh views and a massive 1.05 crore hours watched. Not just that, it is the most-watched film in the Global list of “non-English” movies. For a film with a runtime of nearly three hours, that level of engagement is rare. Many widely promoted films struggle to cross this mark even over a longer period.
What makes this even more striking is the comparison. The second-ranked title, The Big Fake, had fewer views at 31 lakh and almost half the hours watched at 59 lakh, despite a much shorter runtime. This shows that audiences were not just sampling Tere Ishq Mein, they were staying with it. That kind of commitment points to genuine appreciation rather than curiosity-driven clicks.
For Dhanush, this is a clear win. The film has reached an audience that may have missed it earlier and responded in a big way. For Netflix India, it is an even bigger validation. The platform has shown that the right film, even one that did not dominate theatrically, can find deep and meaningful success on OTT. Tere Ishq Mein is a strong reminder that streaming can completely rewrite a film’s journey.
